About Nick Farr

Nick Farr is one of Australia’s most accomplished high-altitude athletes. His adventures have taken him to the top of the world’s highest mountains and have paved the way for some incredible life experiences. A life spent in the mountains, Nick has over 25 years experience trekking, climbing and skiing across North America, Nepal, India, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. In 1995, Nick commenced leading guided and instructional ski tours throughout Canada & Colorado (USA) ... and Trek Climb Ski was born.

Mountaineering & Nepal
His passion for adventure soon landed him in Nepal and over the next 10 years Nick quickly amassed an impressive list of Himalayan summits including Mt. Everest. Strong friendships were formed along the way with his Sherpa team and in 2006, Trek Climb Ski commenced operating fully guided and supported trekking & climbing adventures in the Nepal Himalaya. Nick's Himalayan exploits also include the climb and ski descent of 6419 Chulu West in Nepal, which is among a handful of ski descents from this altitude by an Australian.  He has twice attempted to be the first Australian to ski from the summit of an 8000-metre mountain and this elusive record remains alive with a return to Cho Oyu (8201m) likely in 2012.

Motivational Speaking
At home, Nick works as a keynote and motivational speaker and has presented seminars and motivational talks to a wide range of sporting, corporate, school and community groups. He has worked in a consulting capacity to the Victorian Institute of Sport as an expert in peak performance preparation and has presented to a number of AFL coaches and clubs.  With a wealth of skills, training and learning in a life that also includes 20 years service with Victoria Police, Nick has an extraordinary experience base to draw from.

Charitable Work
Nick's climbing efforts to date have assisted in raising over $150,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organisation dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  Locally, Nick works in a voluntary capacity as an ambassador for the Help Nepal Network (HeNN) and also with the Brunswick Employment Agency (BEA).  BEA specialises in providing employment and training opportunities for people with physical and mental disabilities. Nick has been actively involved with BEA & HeNN since 2005 and enjoys contributing to a wide range of activities within both of these organisations.

Family
Without doubt Nick's proudest moment was the birth of his daughter Madeline in February, 2009. Nick lives with his wife Catherine and daughter Madeline in Melbourne.
